- According to the Comprehensive List of Variant Words released by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and the National Language and Character Work Commission, corresponding treatments were made for variant words in this dictionary;
- Added some new words, meanings, examples, and a few character entries, while removing some outdated entries and examples;
- Corrected some outdated content, individual errors, and places where the expressions were not accurate;
- Rechecked and organized some formatting rules;
- Adjusted the order of some character entries and certain compound words;
- Added several illustrations and an appendix Brief Table of Geological Ages;
- Re-edited the Radical Index according to state regulations.
