Content of the Book: In terms of content, a ci poem is a lyrical poem, a type of poetry. In terms of form, however, it is much more complex than poetic forms. Because the ci was originally a quci (lyric), it had to be written according to the ci tune (also known as the ci title). Each ci tune has a specific form and rhyme. Generally speaking, the ci tune is not the title of the ci. In the early days, some ci tunes were sometimes used as titles. For example, "Fisherman's Song" depicts the life of fishermen, and "Nostalgia for Jiangnan" expresses longing for Jiangnan. However, most ci poets did not use the ci tune as the title but merely regarded it as a title or a musical score. During the Song Dynasty, some ci poets often added an additional title below the ci tune to indicate the meaning of the ci, or even wrote a short preface.
