My baby is three months old and has been spitting up milk. What's the reason?

Patient's question:

Had been spitting up milk all the time, spitting up many times a day, and it would gush out whenever any effort was made. Everything else was normal.
Past treatment history and effectiveness: None
What kind of help do you want: Want to know why

Doctor's answer:

Spit-up refers to the involuntary backflow of contents from the esophagus or stomach to the outside of the mouth. It may simply be a case where a baby burps, causing only a small amount of milk to leak from the corners of the mouth. If, after drinking milk, the baby's stomach experiences repeated contractions and milk sprays out of the mouth like a small fountain, this is called vomiting. Generally, mild spitting up and reflux will improve significantly as the baby grows.
