Features: The revised edition of Understanding and Using English Grammar builds upon the original English version with several modifications. These changes aim to enhance the clarity of chart structures and improve exercises. In large part, the revisions are based on valuable suggestions provided by enthusiastic teachers and students. This edition includes several new brief grammar units and additional notes on the structural differences between American and British English. Like the previous edition, the charts in this version are composed of examples and explanations to facilitate easy comprehension for students. Grammar terminology is kept to a minimum. Some exercises focus on developing skills in listening, oral retellings, writing techniques, or reading comprehension, while others directly target grammatical forms. Following these exercises are more complex and challenging ones to enable students to use the learned structures creatively and independently. The contexts of the exercises reflect realistic and typical usage related to students' concerns, daily lives, and life experiences. The exercises are designed in various ways to encourage students to talk about themselves and their activities, expand their vocabulary, cultivate the habit of cross-cultural comparison, think actively, and inspire short discussions on various topics. Appendix 1 (Supplementary Grammar Units) in this edition has been expanded and now includes exercises. Knowledge of parts of speech and basic structures such as interrogative and negative sentences are also included in the appendix for easy reference by students. Similar to other grammar units in the textbook, the material in Appendix 1 is designed to reinforce previously learned content and build upon it to develop language proficiency.
