Children sometimes blink, sometimes shrug, sometimes stomp their feet, how do they come back

Patient's question:

Sometimes the child blinks, sometimes shrugs, sometimes twists his feet, now nods, then shakes his hands. But these symptoms develop in stages. Is this Tourette syndrome? Or just a habit of the child?

Doctor's answer:

It's not ADHD, but a typical symptom of childhood Tourette Syndrome (TS). Most importantly, never make the child feel abnormal by saying it's a temporary phenomenon caused by not eating dinner properly, not drinking enough, or not taking a nap. Are the symptoms particularly obvious and frequent? For mild Tourette Syndrome, the family doesn't need to pay much attention, especially not to let the child feel that something is wrong. Adults only need to stop giving the child junk snacks and drinks, increase playtime and watching cartoons, spend more time outdoors playing with children, maintain a light diet, and enhance deep sleep. The symptoms will soon return to normal.
