What is the reason for the constant cracking under the baby's earlobe?

Patient's question:

The earlobe has cracked and is still wet. Additionally, my fingernails always fall off in two layers.
Past treatment and effectiveness:
I used purple medicine, but it only worked for two days before the crack reopened.
Help needed:
What is the cause? What should I do?

Doctor's answer:

It must be the baby who scratched it themselves. Use a damp cloth that doesn't drip to wipe it for him. Then apply BABY oil.
If the child scratches their ears frequently, be careful—it might be because water got in during bath time. You can lean close to the baby's ear to check for any unusual smell or use a flashlight to inspect for any foreign objects blocking the ear. If there's a smell and the baby has a fever, it could be an ear infection, and you should see a doctor.
When bathing, be mindful not to let water get into the ear. After the bath, gently swirl a cotton swab a few times inside the ear canal, or use gauze to lightly rotate it around the outer ear canal.
