Patient's question:
The baby is now 36 days old. In the first 30 days, it had 5 or 6 bowel movements a day. From day 31 to day 33, it had one bowel movement a day. Now, it hasn't had a bowel movement for two days. Should we use some medicine? The baby still doesn't enjoy drinking water!Doctor's answer:
Colic usually reappears after the baby is one month old. Colic is a folk belief, and in reality, it refers to changes in the baby's bowel movement patterns. Babies who experience colic again are mostly breastfed. With the decrease in breastfeeding rates, some babies may not have a bowel movement for 2 to 3 days or 4 to 5 days, and in some cases, even up to 15 days, without showing any discomfort. When they do have a bowel movement, it is still yellow and soft, without any lumps, and the amount is not particularly large. This phenomenon is called colic. Best wishes!
