Features: As a mechanics course, the main goal of Engineering Vector Mechanics is to enhance the ability of engineering students to analyze mechanics problems in a simple and logical manner, as well as to improve their problem-solving skills in mechanics through a thorough understanding of fundamental principles. This book is suitable for teaching statics and dynamics courses for second or third-year university students, and it is hoped that this book will help teachers achieve the above goals. The vector analysis introduced in the section of this book will be throughout the entire study of statics and dynamics. This vector method can simplify the derivation of fundamental mechanics principles, make three-dimensional statics problem-solving easier, and enable the analysis of kinematics and dynamics problems that cannot be solved using scalar methods. Of course, the focus of this book remains on correctly understanding mechanics principles and their applications in engineering problems, while vector analysis is merely a convenient tool. This textbook is the Chinese translation of the 3rd edition of Vector Mechanics for Engineers published by McGraw-Hill in 1999, with the main goal of enhancing the ability of engineering students to analyze mechanics problems in a simple and logical manner, as well as improving their problem-solving skills in mechanics through a thorough understanding of fundamental principles. The main features of this textbook are: 1. Vector analysis is throughout statics and dynamics, simplifying the derivation of fundamental mechanics principles and making three-dimensional problem-solving easier; 2. The mechanics of particles is taught before the mechanics of rigid bodies, allowing for the early study of simple practical application problems, while more difficult concepts can be discussed later; 3. The text is divided into several units, each including theoretical content, examples, and exercises, which can be perfectly used as the content for one class; 4. Each chapter includes exercises that require computer programming to solve. This textbook covers the kinematics of particles, the dynamics of particles, the dynamics of particle systems, the kinematics of rigid bodies, the dynamics of plane motion of rigid bodies, three-dimensional rigid body dynamics, and mechanical vibration.
