Patient's question:
I just accidentally swallowed one capsule of vitamin A. Is there any harm? Medical history and treatment effectiveness: None Expected help: See what the harm isDoctor's answer:
The vitamin A acid derivative capsule is structurally similar to all-trans retinoic acid, with an efficacy mechanism resembling that of 13-cis retinoic acid and aromatic retinoids. Its effects include treating acne, modulating autoimmune responses, and anti-inflammatory actions. Its side effects include itching, rash, palmoplantar desquamation, bruising, secondary infections, weakness, pain, gastrointestinal symptoms, and epistaxis. If a baby accidentally ingests it, symptoms such as dizziness, itching, and nausea with dry retching may reappear.
