What is the reason for the baby's fever and rash after just turning one year old?

Patient's question:

The baby just turned one year old on January 7, 2019. On December 30th in the afternoon, it started to have a fever, and on December 31st at night, it had a fever of 40 degrees and experienced a convulsion. On January 2nd, the temperature returned to normal, and there was some sparse rash on the body. By January 5th, the rash had started to gradually fade. On January 6th, there were cold symptoms, including nasal congestion. On January 7th, the baby was taken to the hospital, where it was diagnosed with bronchitis. As of today (January 9th), the rash on the legs is particularly numerous, and there are also rashes on the face, hands, and feet. The baby still has cold symptoms, but its spirits have improved significantly. It loves to laugh. However, the rash has not faded and is instead getting worse. I want to consult a doctor. I checked that generally, the rash from roseola should fade within three days, but my baby has now been a week and the rash has not faded. Could it not be roseola?

Doctor's answer:

Normal roseola fever will show a fever for three to four days before the rash appears. But your child has been sick for a week now, and the rash is still not fading, along with cold symptoms. Since you have a cold, it's possible that the rash could be caused by a viral infection, such as EB virus or adenovirus. You could get a respiratory virus test done. If the child only has a rash and is in good spirits, without hepatosplenomegaly or lymphadenopathy, the rash will usually resolve on its own after it fully appears.
