What illness does a 31-month-old baby have?

Patient's question:

My daughter started having clear nasal discharge on February 29th and was given Xiao'er Granules. By the evening of March 3rd, she began to have a fever, coughing, rapid breathing, hoarseness, and continued clear nasal discharge. On March 4th, we took her to the hospital, where the specialist diagnosed bronchitis and prescribed two days of intravenous drips, ibuprofen suspension drops, and Huanglian Granules. On March 5th, her condition remained the same with severe hoarseness, and we went to another hospital where she was diagnosed with acute laryngitis. The doctor gave her an injection of dexamethasone and prescribed Yitanjing. Last night, after the baby fell asleep, she had a fever all over, and her coughing continued. On the 7th, her fever subsided during the day, but she still had a small amount of clear nasal discharge, phlegm that she couldn’t cough up, poor appetite, and a very white tongue.
What is actually wrong with the baby? The doctors have different opinions, which is frustrating. Should we still get an X-ray to confirm the diagnosis? How can the phlegm be cleared up? Why is her fever coming and going?

Doctor's answer:

It's certain that your baby developed an upper respiratory infection after catching a cold. The symptoms you mentioned are all signs of an upper respiratory infection. Upper respiratory infections can affect the gastrointestinal tract in many ways, and your child is one of them. Your baby has a weak constitution, so you can consider taking traditional Chinese medicine that cools the blood and treats the stomach, such as Xiang Sha Yang Wei Wan or Qing Fei Liang Xue Pian. You can also get an X-ray for diagnosis to check if there's a risk of lung infection.
