What are the causes of enuresis?

Patient's question:

This has been going on for a long time, probably about 4 or 5 years. There are always a few instances of bedwetting each month. Sometimes it's because I dream about going to the bathroom, and by the time I realize it, it's too late—there's already a stain. Other times, I have no feeling at all, and I haven't dreamed about going to the bathroom, but when I wake up, there's a stain. Why is this happening?

Doctor's answer:

Urinary incontinence requires a comprehensive evaluation and treatment. It is recommended to keep a diary, observe survival patterns, avoid excessive fatigue during the day, and reduce excitement before bed. Drink more water during the day, hold urine occasionally, and enhance bladder capacity. Have a light dinner and avoid consuming fluids two hours before bedtime. Urinate once before bed and again about an hour after falling asleep. Gradually identify your urination patterns. Pay attention to a light diet, avoiding spicy, greasy, and extremely cold foods. Do not overwork.
