Features: Zizhi Tongjian (abbreviated as Tongjian) is a renowned chronological history of China. It records history starting from the 23rd year of King Weilie of Zhou (403 BC) and ending in the 6th year of Xiande in the Later Zhou Dynasty (959 AD), covering a total of 1,362 years of history. It is the most valuable and longest-continuous chronicle history book in our national chronicles. Its author is Sima Guang, a famous political figure and historian in Chinese history. Two years after the completion of Tongjian, on the 4th day of the 10th month in the first year of Yuanyou (1086), it was engraved in Hangzhou. This is the second engraving after the book's completion, known as the Yuanyou edition or the Hangzhou edition, which is the original edition of Tongjian. Subsequently, multiple re-engravings were made. If we exclude its branches and only consider its single lineage, then the transmission refers to the engraving dated the 1st day of the 7th month in the second year of Jiejing (1132), completed and presented on the 20th day of the 12th month in the third year of Shaoxing. This edition was based on the Yuanyou edition and is known as the Shaoxing re-engraving edition. Now that the original edition is no longer available, this Shaoxing re-engraving edition has become the earliest existing engraved version of Tongjian.
