Normal value range of jaundice in infants

Patient's question:

I don't know if he has this condition, and his mental state isn't good either. Could you please tell me the normal range for a baby's jaundice level?

Doctor's answer:

Jaundice is generally divided into physiological jaundice and pathological jaundice. If it exceeds the range of physiological jaundice, it is called pathological jaundice.
I. Physiological Jaundice
Typically, newborns can visibly notice a slight yellowish tint in their skin two days after birth, reaching its peak between 3 to 5 days, and usually disappearing within 7 to 10 days. At this stage, the jaundice index (serum bilirubin level) is generally within the normal range if it does not exceed 15 mg/dL.
