Novel: Modern Methods and Techniques of Literary Analysis

Author: Bernard Valéry
Publisher:
Publish Date: 2003-01-01
Features: Numerous works attempt to explain novels, the techniques of novels, or the content of novels. Some of them, under certain linguistic changes and cultural contexts, provide readers with a historical or geographical panorama. Others, in relation to the era of the events, tend more to explore the form and themes of the novel. Because, adventure novels, Bildungsromane, or historical novels (the usual tripartite division) all transcend narrow national boundaries and temporal limitations. These different approaches, whether diachronic or synchronic, all originate from comparative literature. They attempt to outline the contours of the novel from genres that no longer belong or are no longer part of the novel.
