Newborn jaundice test results 375 is pathological jaundice?

Patient's question:

My son was diagnosed with jaundice ten days after birth. His face and eyes are yellow, but he can eat and sleep, and his bowel movements are yellow and abundant. He is currently being treated at the County People's Hospital.

Doctor's answer:

In your case, it may be physiological jaundice. In mild cases, jaundice appears as a light yellow color, limited to the face and neck, or may extend to the trunk, with sclera also becoming yellowish. It usually subsides within 2 to 3 days and the skin color returns to normal by the 5th to 6th day. In severe cases, jaundice similarly starts from the head and spreads to the feet, affecting the entire body. Vomiting and cerebrospinal fluid may also turn yellow, with the duration lasting more than a week. In some premature infants, it may persist for up to 4 weeks, with the stool still remaining yellow and no bilirubin in the urine. It is recommended to use blue light therapy, which can be effective.
