Does the baby need to be patted after finishing feeding?

Patient's question:

I am 36 years old this year. Recently, I feel unwell. Sometimes during the day, I feel dizzy, and it affects my work. I can't sleep at night, and the medicine I took doesn't seem to work well. Do babies need to be burped after feeding?

Doctor's answer:

There are no specific rules for this; it depends on the baby's individual circumstances. My baby was around fifty days old when he no longer needed burping. After drinking milk, I would hold him upright, and he would burp on his own.
Regarding your situation, it might be subcutaneous bleeding. This bleeding can appear as small pinpoint hemorrhages, known as petechiae, or as a larger area. If there are no symptoms of pressure, treatment may not be necessary. However, if the hematoma is severe, it may require aspiration or incision.
