Features: The Mayan civilization was a great achievement created by the indigenous peoples of Mesoamerica in isolation from ancient civilizations in Asia, Africa, and Europe. It was an outstanding representative of human accomplishments in the New World before Columbus arrived. It made significant contributions in many areas, including science, agriculture, culture, and art. Among the world's many ancient civilizations, the Mayan is undoubtedly the most romantic because the Mayan civilization disappeared mysteriously 500 years ago. Its secrets are hidden deep in the tropical jungles of Central America. The Mayan architecture—pyramids, observatories, palaces, ball courts, and forests of dated stelae, along with various sculptures—all evoke strange and fanciful imaginations. This book presents the mysterious and highly developed ancient Mayan civilization from various perspectives, using rich historical records and images.
