How to deal with diarrhea in a 9-month-old baby

Patient's question:

I don't know if he has this condition, and his mental state isn't good either. How should I handle diarrhea in a 9-month-old baby?

Doctor's answer:

Children's diarrhea is divided into two categories based on the cause: infectious and non-infectious. It is a clinical syndrome primarily characterized by diarrhea, caused by multiple pathogens and multiple factors. Generally, medication can still be administered. Commonly used medications include Mamiaoi, Peifikang, and Lizhuchangle, which are taken orally to control symptoms of infant diarrhea. It is best to avoid medication as much as possible, as food should serve both the dual purposes of providing nutrition and stopping diarrhea.
1. If the infant is breastfed, the feeding time can be shortened, allowing the baby to only consume the first half of the milk. This is because the first half of breast milk primarily contains protein, which is easily digestible, while the second half mainly contains fat, which is more difficult to digest. If the infant is formula-fed, whole-fat formula should not be given; instead, skim milk should be used.
