Features: Snowland Highland Exploration is a small book about Tibet's Ali region. Snowland Highland Exploration records travel experiences, including the natural scenery, people, and events of Ali, as well as cultural relics and historical sites. I am a professional archaeologist working in Tibet. While writing this book, I inevitably retained more traces of archaeology in the writing. This is one feature of the book, and another is the abundance of photographs. The dream of going to Ali has been a long-standing one for me. In 1978, the National Cultural Relics Bureau allocated a special fund for an investigation of the Gugé Kingdom ruins in Ali. At that time, Ali was part of the Tibet Autonomous Region but administratively under the jurisdiction of Xinjiang. Therefore, the task of investigating the Gugé Kingdom ruins was assigned to the Xinjiang Museum. The Xinjiang team did not speak Tibetan, so the Tibet Cultural Relics Management Committee was asked to send personnel to participate in the investigation.
