How to treat cold sweat in children

Patient's question:

These days, my boss said I'm not in good spirits, which has affected my work performance. Actually, I didn't mean to, either. I often can't sleep at night, sometimes feel anxious and uncomfortable. If it gets worse, I'm worried it might affect my health and work. How should I treat a child who sweats coldly?

Doctor's answer:

Childhood hyperhidrosis is mainly seen in the following three situations.
First: The most common cause is calcium deficiency, which can be confirmed through trace element or bone density tests.
Second: In traditional Chinese medicine, excessive sweating in children is often seen in those with spleen deficiency.
Third: It could be a normal phenomenon. Sweat gland secretion is controlled by the autonomic nervous system (vagus nerve). After falling asleep, the vagus nerve becomes excited, leading to increased sweating, usually more on the head and face. However, this typically subsides within one to two hours after falling asleep.
