Our education must face modernization, the world, and the future, and therefore must strengthen this aspect of education and research. Hence, the publication of this series of books is also to inherit and promote the fine tradition of Peking University in valuing aesthetic education and art education, and to meet the needs of education's "Three Faces." The series is primarily aimed at college students and young readers, serving as teaching materials or reference books for universities to conduct aesthetic and art education. It can also be used by literary and art workers and enthusiasts for art research. This book was compiled based on teaching and research. The course at Peking University has been practiced by three generations of students and has widely absorbed suggestions and opinions from classmates who took the course. Only then was this book formed based on the original teaching materials. The content of this book strives to incorporate research findings from related disciplines such as aesthetics, cultural studies, psychology, and sociology, using Marx's theory of "art production" as its theoretical foundation. Compared to original art theory textbooks, it has new expansions in both system and content. This book can be used for art education at universities and can also be referenced by literary and art workers and enthusiasts.
