Criminal law is one of the core courses in law programs at higher legal institutions. In accordance with the requirements of higher legal education, this textbook focuses on explaining the basic theories of Chinese criminal law and incorporates the latest legislative and judicial achievements in criminal law (up to the latest legislative and judicial information as of June 2003). Therefore, it holds significant academic and practical value. The textbook is divided into two parts: "General Principles of Criminal Law" and "Specific Offenses of Criminal Law." The former systematically and comprehensively explores general theories of criminal law, including criminal law, basic principles of criminal law, criminal liability, crime composition, elements of crime, criminal intent and negligence, socially harmless acts, stages of crime, joint offenses, single offense and multiple offenses, as well as general theories of punishment and China's criminal penalty system. The latter examines each chapter the criteria for the establishment of ten specific offenses included in China's Criminal Law Division and their basic theoretical issues. Due to space constraints, we provide detailed explanations for those difficult yet common key offenses, while offering brief summaries for other offenses.
