Features: The first batch of 54 titles in the "Contemporary Collection of Overseas Linguistics and Applied Linguistics" have achieved great success since their release in September 2000. The initial print run of 5,000 sets was in high demand, leading to a second print run of 6,000 sets by October. In just a few short months, the publication of such a large-scale series of linguistic works is rare in the history of academic publishing in China. Since its release, many institutions and individuals have been eager to order it. Graduate and undergraduate students regard the Collection as an invaluable guide, while teachers of all ages view it as a source of knowledge renewal. Practical evidence shows that the Collection, introduced by FLTRP, has received widespread praise from the domestic linguistics and foreign language teaching communities. It will become a treasure trove for advancing linguistic and foreign language teaching and research in China. Building on the success of the first batch of 54 titles, FLTRP is now launching the second batch of 58 titles. The second batch of the Collection features five key characteristics: First, it consists of 58 English-language original works, expanding the covered disciplines from 26 in the first batch to 33, including newly added fields such as the history of linguistics, the philosophy of language, cognitive linguistics, anthropological linguistics, the origins of language, and chemical grammar theories, thereby more broadly meeting readers' needs. Second, it includes influential works by renowned linguistic masters such as Saussure, Sapir, Bloomfield, Halliday, Chomsky, Austin, Grice, and Leech, ensuring higher authority. Third, it incorporates classic linguistic works published by world-renowned publishers such as Oxford University Press and Harvard University Press. Fourth, it continues to feature expert prefaces, with an even stronger team of experts compared to the first batch. Fifth, the Collection is prefaced by the world-famous linguist Professor Noam Chomsky and the renowned Chinese linguist Professor Jiaxian Shen. This Collection is a large-scale, open-ended series, which will play a positive role in advancing linguistic and foreign language teaching and research in China. In the future, FLTRP will continue to introduce works, striving to offer readers the newest and most influential linguistic and applied linguistic books from abroad.
