Features: The China Center for Economic Research at Peking University was established in August 1994. The center has gathered a group of young and middle-aged economists with sound training in modern economics, aiming to mobilize domestic and international social resources to contribute to Peking University's teaching and research, to China's economic reform and development, and to the study of contemporary economics. In the nine years since its establishment, the economists at the center have grounded themselves in the vast Chinese land and applied modern economic theories to study China's economic issues. They have achieved a series of academically valuable and far-reaching results in broad areas such as corporate theory and Chinese enterprise reform, financial theory and Chinese macroeconomic policy, comparative advantage and trade development, industrial theory and economic restructuring, food theory and agricultural policy, and institutional change theory and China's economic development. The center's research findings have had a positive impact on China's economic reform and development process and have made indelible contributions to the standardization, internationalization, and modernization of Chinese economic research.
