Features: On October 1998, the book Century Tsinghua published by Guangming Daily Press was warmly welcomed by a broad readership, especially alumni, as it featured stories told by Tsinghua people, vivid characters, and events that showcased the rich connotation of the Tsinghua spirit. In anticipation of Tsinghua's 90th anniversary, we have edited Volume II and Volume III of Century Tsinghua. Over the 90 years since its founding, Tsinghua has nurtured a large number of talents in scholarship, entrepreneurship, and governance, making significant contributions to the revitalization of the Chinese nation. Tsinghua was born alongside the Xinhai Revolution, and its history is closely tied to the struggles of the Chinese people for national independence and liberation, as well as their efforts to build a prosperous and strong socialist motherland. Generations of Tsinghua students have dedicated their lives to this cause. "Exquisite and outstanding, Tsinghua shines upon China," and "strengthening the nation and enriching its people—this is Tsinghua's aspiration"—these words vividly depict the spirit of Tsinghua students. Century Tsinghua (Volume III) primarily tells the stories of Tsinghua people before and after liberation, as well as during the 50 years of the People's Republic of China. It is divided into four sections, each inspired by the inscription "Water and wood Tsinghua, gentle spring rain, teaching me, nurturing me, unforgettable for life" written by former Tsinghua alumnus Zhu Ji for his alma mater. Through the recollections of Tsinghua students about their campus life, teachers, classmates, and work experiences, the book presents the spirit of Tsinghua people. Most of the articles in Century Tsinghua (Volume III) are selected from recent issues of Tsinghua Alumni Newsletter and Selected Alumni Writings, while some are specially commissioned. We sincerely thank the alumni for contributing their time to write for this book. Comrade Xie Hongyan has put in a great deal of effort in organizing and editing this book. Our heartfelt gratitude goes to them as well.
