How to deal with children's ankle pain at night

Patient's question:

Starting from November 2010 to now, there have been about 5 to 6 times when my ankle hurts, like it's on the top of the foot, specifically the front part of the ankle. X-rays were taken and said everything was fine, no treatment has been done. Each time it hurts for over an hour, then it stops. It never hurts during the day; I can jump and hop around without any complaints.

Doctor's answer:

Analysis of the condition: Hello, your child's symptoms are growing pains. Some children may lack calcium during this period, but calcium supplementation does not help much in relieving growing pains.
Suggestions: The cause of growing pains is not in the bones but in soft tissue fatigue. The most important thing is to get timely rest. When the pain is severe, local massage, pain relievers, and a moderate intake of vitamin C can be used. With proper rest, exercise, massage, and symptomatic drug treatment, children's growing pains will heal quickly without leaving any aftereffects or affecting normal growth and development.
