Is infant jaundice easy to treat?

Patient's question:

These days, my boss said I'm not in good spirits and it's affecting my work performance. Actually, I didn't want to, either. I often can't sleep at night, and sometimes feel anxious and uncomfortable. If it gets worse, I'm worried it might affect my health and work. Is jaundice in infants treatable?

Doctor's answer:

In your case, it may be physiological jaundice. In mild cases, jaundice appears as a light yellow color, limited to the face and neck, or may extend to the trunk, and the sclera may also turn yellow. It usually subsides within 2 to 3 days and returns to normal skin color by the 5th to 6th day. In severe cases, jaundice similarly starts from the head and spreads to the feet, affecting the entire body. Vomit and cerebrospinal fluid may also turn yellow, with the duration lasting more than a week. In some premature infants, it may persist for up to 4 weeks, with the stool still appearing yellow and no bilirubin in the urine. It is recommended to use blue light therapy, which can be effective.
