Features: This book is divided into two parts: Part One consists of six chapters, each with several sub-sections. Each sub-section is accompanied by examples, explanations, as well as exercises and answer keys to reinforce the learned skills. Part Two is dedicated to reading comprehension practice. The six chapters in Part One focus on four major areas: Chapter 1 covers word formation, introducing learners to basic affixation techniques through the study of word formation knowledge, enabling them to recognize and grasp the meanings of unfamiliar words. Chapters 2 and 3 focus on guessing word meaning and contextual clues, primarily introducing techniques for inferring the meanings of new words through other parts of speech, contextual signals, connections between sentences, and leveraging background knowledge. Chapters 4 and 5 deal with the comprehension of sentences, paragraphs, and entire passages, guiding readers to analyze longer texts and gain a comprehensive understanding of the content. Chapter 6 covers exam question types and solving strategies, introducing common test formats to help students familiarize themselves with, understand, and master answer methods and techniques. Each chapter in the above sections is self-contained and relatively independent, allowing readers to study them comprehensively or selectively based on their actual needs. Part Two consists of 22 categories of articles with a total of 57 passages, designed to help readers become familiar with vocabulary from various subjects and disciplines, review and reinforce the reading skills introduced in the book, and improve reading speed and comprehension. This book can serve as a reading textbook for non-English majors at senior high schools preparing for college entrance exams, as well as supplementary material for lower-level English majors in their extensive reading courses. Similarly, it is also particularly suitable for exam preparation for intermediate to advanced English tests such as the CET-4 and CET-6, TEM-4 and TEM-8, postgraduate entrance exams, PETS, professional English exams, TOEFL, IELTS, and others.
