How to provide first aid for a child with epilepsy

Patient's question:

On weekends, when there's nothing to do at home, I made plans with my friend to take my wife and kids to the park. Seeing the excited expressions of the children, we adults were also very happy. However, just as everyone was enjoying themselves, my friend's child suddenly fainted and had convulsions. We were all terrified and quickly took them to the hospital for treatment. The doctor said they had epilepsy.

Doctor's answer:

1. Quickly hold the child to prevent falling and place them on a flat or safe surface.
2. Unfasten the collar and cuffs to ensure an open airway. Turn the child's head and body to one side to allow saliva, mucus, and other fluids to drain out.
3. Stay with the child at all times until the seizure stops.
4. Carefully observe which parts of the body are twitching during the seizure, whether consciousness or awareness is present, and record the duration to describe to the doctor.
5. After the seizure stops, perform cleanup and comfort the child to alleviate their anxiety.
