Is a child's seizure caused by being scared?

Patient's question:

Last year, I took my child out to play, but ended up encountering a serious car accident on the way. Many people unexpectedly died. Both my child and I were terrified. It's possible that the child saw some frightening scenes at the time, and soon after returning home, they began to feel unwell. A few days later, they started showing some symptoms of epilepsy. I want to know if childhood epilepsy attacks are caused by being scared?

Doctor's answer:

Epilepsy is a brain disorder characterized by sudden, episodic, and transient dysfunction of the central nervous system, caused by abnormal synchronous discharge of groups of brain neurons. The location, intensity, and frequency of the discharge in the brain neurons, whether it affects both the left and right hemispheres of the brain, the symptoms exhibited, and the types are all different. However, symptoms such as convulsions of the limbs, foaming at the mouth, rolling of the eyes, cyanosis of the face, screaming in the mouth, and incontinence of urine and feces are typical symptoms of epilepsy.
To be diagnosed with epilepsy, two conditions must be met:
1. The symptoms of epilepsy
2. The two fundamental characteristics of epilepsy: recurrence and suddenness
