Features:Early joke collections in China have been widely circulated. Representative examples include: Wei Dynasty's Laolin; Sui Dynasty's Qiayanlu; Song Dynasty's Shilin Guangji, Tiaoiebian, and Fuzhanglu. Particularly during the Ming and Qing dynasties, the art of jokes developed rapidly and were compiled into books. Examples include: Ming Dynasty's Lushu, Yale, Xiazan, Xiaofu, Guang Xiaofu, Gujin Xiaotan, Xiaolin, Jingxuan Yaxiao, Xiaohai Qianjin, and Huanyan Quliao Tanshao Juling; Qing Dynasty's Xiaolin Guangji, Xiaodehao, Xiaoxiao Lu, Xitanlu, and Xiaodao, with countless others. These have become an indispensable part of people's lives. With the continuous development of human civilization, modern jokes have also flourished rapidly. Compared to ancient jokes, modern jokes have undergone significant changes: first, in literary style, they are simple, concise, profound, and memorable; second, in content, these jokes reflect various aspects of human society and social dynamics from multiple perspectives, either fantastical or realistic, revealing, critiquing, praising, satirizing, or bringing laughter; third, in themes, they cover a wide range of subjects from various fields and philosophical discussions, transcending religious beliefs and social status; and fourth, in internationalization, jokes are a treasure of all humanity, unrestricted by national boundaries and widely circulated. To preserve this human linguistic art of modern jokes, we have compiled this book as a gift to readers. This book was completed after nearly two years of effort by a team of nearly 30 editors. It is published in hardcover with a complimentary CD-ROM, featuring nearly 4,000 jokes and 4,000 illustrations. It is the latest large-scale joke collection following Wei Dynasty's Laolin and Qing Dynasty's Xiaolin Guangji. The book is divided into three parts—Humor and Playfulness, Satire and Criticism, and Children's Jokes—and spans ten volumes. During the compilation process, nearly 10,000 folk jokes were collected and organized, drawing upon extensive reference materials and expert guidance. The essence was preserved while the dross was discarded, striving for perfection in quality.
