Features: The concept of this book: In the Verbal section of the GRE, reading requires solid fundamentals, high reading ability, and skills, as well as a proficient command of GRE vocabulary. There are rarely shortcuts; on the other hand, analogy and antonym questions require less time but account for a significant proportion of the score. Therefore, to achieve substantial improvement in a short period, it is advisable to start with vocabulary to enhance the speed and accuracy of analogy and antonym questions. This book organically integrates the clusters of meanings, testing methods, and questions of all GRE vocabulary in a categorized form. All the vocabulary is derived from actual test questions and is analyzed, organized, and classified reasonably to strengthen memory. After clarifying the approach of this book, its structure will help you understand its features and usage. Specifically, the following points are introduced:
(1) Most of the vocabulary in this book comes from the full set of North American tests published by Princeton from 1984 to 1996 (including the full practice tests NO.2-NO.9) and domestic tests from 1990 to 1999. The vocabulary is annotated according to the frequently tested meanings in the GRE.
(2) This is the only GRE vocabulary book in China that organically integrates the clusters of meanings, testing methods, and questions of all GRE vocabulary in a categorized form.
(3) The chapter of this book is the general classification of GRE vocabulary, containing approximately 7,100 words, which can be used by GRE test-takers for learning and memorizing words. Through this chapter, you can remember all the frequently tested GRE words with the same Chinese meaning, so that when you encounter a word, you will be able to recall other related vocabulary, achieving flexible application of words.
(4) The score in analogy and antonym questions determines your performance in the Verbal section. To solve each question quickly, you not only need to understand the word meanings but also be familiar with the corresponding relationships (i.e., the antonym relationships in antonyms and the analogy relationships in analogies). In view of this, I have carefully analyzed and organized all the actual test questions and their vocabulary, and classified them reasonably. I have also counted and organized 272 frequently tested antonym clusters from all the questions, forming the third chapter of this book.
(5) This book lists the main antonym and analogy questions from the new tests between 1996 and 1999, allowing test-takers to identify and grasp the direction of the GRE vocabulary exam. Moreover, in Chapter 4, I have provided annotations on some analogy relationships and the solutions to analogy questions, which can effectively help you solve GRE analogy questions.
(6) This book is not only of great help to GRE test-takers but can also be used by other English learners to memorize and expand their vocabulary.
