How to Treat Children's Viral Colds

Patient's question:

My daughter is five and a half years old. She started coughing on the 17th of this month. After taking medicine for a week, she had two days without coughing, but she was still sneezing. Then she started having high fever, and her cough became worse than before. From the 26th to the 28th, she received three days of intravenous saline, which was Lepai with added virazole. On the 28th and 29th, she didn't have a fever or any coughing symptoms. However, on the morning of the 30th, she had another high fever. She is taking Yinhuang Granules and Chen Gong Zai Xin.
Could you please advise what I should do? Should she continue receiving intravenous saline, and if so, what kind? (The blood test results indicate a viral cold.)
Additionally, my child has low immunity. Is it possible that she has taken too many antibiotics? Every autumn, she...

Doctor's answer:

① Pay attention not to let the child overheat or get cold. Overheating can easily cause sweating, and sweating can lower the child's resistance, making them more susceptible to catching a cold. Wet clothes should be changed promptly, and children with colds should be particularly careful about reasonable warmth.
② Avoid taking the child to crowded places and keep the windows open for ventilation frequently.
③ Let the child rest more and provide them with an appropriate amount of warm water to drink. Drinking water can help promote the excretion of toxic and harmful substances from the body.
④ When the child has high fever, physical cooling methods such as ice packs or alcohol can be used. Medication is not necessary if the temperature is below 38°C.
⑤ Babies who have already started eating solid foods or older children can consume easily digestible foods such as vegetables, porridge, and noodles.
⑥ Coughing children can eat some cooling sweet foods or fruits, such as pears, oranges, or honey (diluted with warm water in small amounts to consume, note that infants under one year old should not eat honey).
