How is infantile diarrhea generally treated?

Patient's question:

Detailed symptoms and consultation purpose:
Suddenly had diarrhea last night, the stool was like egg curd, urination was normal. This afternoon, I had a fever of 38.2°C. Please advise on treatment. Thank you!

Doctor's answer:

Hello: This may be a possibility of enteritis. It is recommended that you take your child to the hospital for examination and treatment to avoid delaying the condition. Moreover, severe infections are rare in infantile diarrhea, while the overuse of antibiotics is common during treatment. Infants with red blood cells not exceeding 10 in their stool, without systemic infection or toxic symptoms, and who are normal in feeding, playing, and mental state should not be given antibiotics (including antibiotics and antivirals). The main treatment involves Smecta, with Miamai or Haishengyuan taken every 1-2 hours, for a course of 1-2 weeks. When the number of bowel movements decreases to less than 5 times per day, Smecta can be discontinued on a case-by-case basis, while Miamai or Haishengyuan should be continued for another 2 weeks.
