Why do babies' nostrils get larger when they sleep?

Patient's question:

Medical Description: My baby is now six and a half months old. Since birth, my baby has been sniffling while breathing. Now, although the sniffling has stopped, the nostrils have become larger when breathing. What could be the reason for this?
History of Treatment and Effect: None, none, none
Expected Help: The baby's sniffling and enlarged nostrils. What could be the cause?

Doctor's answer:

This is about developing poor sleep habits, not about lacking anything. One should cultivate good sleep habits. When tired, go straight to bed and fall asleep. A sleep cycle is only 60 minutes long, and there are two sleep states: light sleep and deep sleep. During light sleep, besides the eyes remaining closed, limbs and the torso are active, the face shows various expressions, and the mouth can produce sounds like humming, crying, or laughing. Light sleep accounts for 1/3 to 1/2 of the total sleep time. If you haven’t taken vitamin A and D, take them as soon as possible. Continuous sleep is more meaningful than fragmented sleep, and nighttime sleep is more meaningful than daytime sleep.
