How to deal with infant cough and nasal congestion

Patient's question:

These days, my boss said I'm not in good spirits and it's affecting my work performance. Actually, I don't want to, either. I often can't sleep at night, sometimes feel anxious and uncomfortable. If it gets worse, I'm worried it will affect my health and work. How should I handle infant cough and nasal congestion?

Doctor's answer:

In your case, it might be a wind-cold cold with coughing, known as "wind-cold cough." This is a syndrome caused by exposure to wind-cold. The symptoms of this syndrome include frequent coughing, thin white phlegm, clear nasal discharge, pale red tongue with thin white coating, heavy coughing sound, headache, fever, and in severe cases, shortness of breath. It can be treated with San Yao Tang combined with herbs that lower Qi and resolve phlegm. There are many reasons that can cause respiratory issues in children. If the child is diagnosed with a respiratory condition, parents need to cooperate with the doctor for immediate treatment, including gastric decompression, and develop good hygiene habits. The child should have a balanced diet and avoid stimulating and cold foods.
