How to Relieve Baby Choking

Patient's question:

The baby was born a few days ago, and recently, for some reason, they keep scratching their ears. How can I relieve the baby's milk aspiration?

Doctor's answer:

For children who often spit up, feed them less and hold them for a longer time after feeding. The holding position should keep the baby's upper body upright, with their stomach resting on an adult's shoulder. Then gently pat the child's back with your hand until they burp and expel the air from their stomach. At this point, gently place the child in bed with the head slightly elevated and lie them on their right side. This can help reduce spitting up. Spitting up is a physiological phenomenon and doesn't need to be a concern. As the child grows older, their body will continue to develop and the issue will resolve on its own.
