South Korea and China are neighboring countries separated by a shared border, and the two nations share many similarities in terms of historical traditions and cultural backgrounds. In the insurance industry, South Korea is the world's seventh-largest insurance market, with a relatively mature insurance market and high levels of management and operational standards in insurance companies. Particularly after the mid-1980s, South Korea's insurance market also underwent a process of transformation from closure to openness, encountering issues and challenges that bear many similarities to the current situation in China's insurance market as it further opens up following its entry into the World Trade Organization.
