Features: This book focuses on fundamental concepts, basic analytical methods, main algorithms, and engineering applications. The discussions are designed to be both in-depth and accessible, serving as a textbook for undergraduate and graduate students in various related fields of information and communication engineering. It is also a valuable reference for a broad range of engineering professionals working in communications, radar, navigation, sonar, remote sensing, and computers. The book systematically explores the theory and applications of adaptive filtering—both time-domain adaptive filtering and spatial-domain adaptive filtering (smart antennas). It is divided into five parts, comprising fourteen chapters and two appendices.
Part I (Chapters 1 and 2) is an introduction, covering fundamental concepts of adaptive filtering and optimal filtering.
Part II (Chapters 3 to 8) discusses time-domain adaptive filtering, including the Least Mean Square (LMS) algorithm, adaptive lattice filters, Least Squares and Recursive Least Squares (RLS) algorithms, Kalman filtering, square-root RLS adaptive filters, Least Squares lattice algorithms, and fast transversal filtering algorithms.
Part III (Chapters 9 to 11) explores spatial-domain adaptive filtering—smart antennas, covering digital beamforming (DBF) for smart antennas, spatial-domain adaptive filtering (smart antennas) algorithms, and the implementation of smart antenna systems.
Part IV (Chapters 12 to 14) discusses the applications of adaptive filtering, including smart antennas in wireless mobile communication systems, the use of adaptive filtering techniques in radar, adaptive equalization, and adaptive noise cancellation.
Part V consists of appendices.
