Features: Computer Hardware Technology Fundamentals is an important course in university computer public education, belonging to the second level of computer basic courses alongside Computer Software Technology Fundamentals. This book introduces the hardware technology of microcomputers (commonly referred to as microcomputers or PCs). Traditional microcomputer hardware courses, such as "Microcomputer Principles and Applications," typically cover three aspects: microcomputer principles, microcomputer interfaces, and microcomputer applications. These are suitable for students in electrical engineering majors but are clearly too advanced for students in non-electrical engineering majors. To adapt to changing circumstances, we have determined the theme of this book as "Single-Computer and Networking," removing specialized knowledge commonly found in traditional hardware courses, such as assembly language programming and microcomputer interface design. Instead, we have added topics like multimedia PCs, notebook PCs, PC selection and usage, as well as fundamental knowledge of network applications, including the Internet and network computers, to make the content suitable for a broader range of readers, including students from various majors. This book serves as a follow-up course to the introductory "Computer Culture Fundamentals" course. The entire book is divided into two main parts: microcomputer hardware and network hardware. In addition to traditional desktop PCs, recent developments in recent years have led to dedicated chapters on multimedia PCs, notebook PCs, and network fundamentals, including the Internet. The book emphasizes practical application and public fundamentals, omitting common topics like assembly language programming from traditional hardware courses while adding knowledge on hardware selection and usage, making it suitable for a wider audience. This book can be used as a public course textbook for non-computer majors in universities, or as self-study material for computer enthusiasts with high school-level education or higher. Each chapter includes exercises, and Appendix A provides suggestions for practical activities for readers to choose from.
