Features: Broadcast and television language, as an object of academic research, is a virgin land far from being fully explored. Scholars and broadcast and television workers all yearn for its leadership; this is actually the expectation of the nation. Research must have a starting point for thought. I believe this starting point can only be the goal of the great rejuvenation of Chinese national culture, the broad perspective of the relationship between language and culture, and the academic style of emancipating the mind and seeking truth from facts. Media language (including written language), especially broadcast and television language, is too important—it has an influence on the direction of social language and national culture that no other medium can match. Modernization requires standardized language and writing life and rich and diverse, positive culture, therefore, the language of broadcast and television should be standardized and diverse, elegant and lively. This is a proposition that needs no argument, but for this, many people have said a lot in the past, and experts and celebrities have said a lot again in this book "Media and Language." Why? This reflects that so far, only a few have realized this and put it into practice; the majority, at least, have not recognized the importance of media language to the height.
