Patient's question:
My daughter is 12 years old. On September 13th, she complained of leg pain, so we took her to Liuhe People's Hospital for examination. An MRI of the knee was performed, but no conclusion was reached, only that it was suspected that the knee had edema. After we returned home, we used Yunnan Baiyao on her, but it had no effect. She has been saying it hurts a lot.On October 4th, we took her to Jiangsu Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine for treatment. Director Shen Jirong suggested an examination of the hip joint. On October 5th, we had an MRI of the hip joint at Jiangsu Provincial People's Hospital. The conclusion was: bone marrow edema in the right femoral head epiphysis, and a small amount of fluid in both hip joints.
Currently, my daughter cannot go to school and is lying in bed at home. I am too busy and tired to find a good doctor to diagnose her and alleviate her pain. I really have no idea what to do.
Doctor's answer:
Avascular necrosis of the femoral head, also known as ischemic necrosis of the femoral head, is one of the common bone and joint diseases. It is mostly caused by conditions such as rheumatism, blood diseases, diving-related illnesses, and burns, which first disrupt the blood supply to the surrounding joint surface tissues, leading to necrosis. There are no effective treatments for avascular necrosis of the femoral head; medication is generally ineffective, and artificial femoral head replacement surgery can be considered.
