Features: The Road of is one of the most important works of Soviet writer Alexey Nikolaevich Tolstoy (1883–1945). This trilogy took A. Tolstoy twenty years to write. The Sisters began in July 1919, when he was living in Paris. The second part, 1918, started in 1927. The third part, Dusky Morning, was completed on June 22, 1941, the very day fascist Germany invaded the USSR. Before the trilogy was published together, the author made careful revisions to the first two parts. The entire trilogy is a heroic epic about the Soviet people. It not only broadly depicts the life of Russia before, during, and after the Civil War, painting a grand picture of the great historical events of that era; but it also vividly portrays the Russian people's trials and victories under the leadership of the party, especially the Russian intelligentsia's journey of being tempered by the revolution, combining with the people, and gradually coming to understand the great truth of socialism. In 1943, A. Tolstoy told the readers about the writing process of this epic: The Road of is a painful, hopeful, joyful, disappointing, despairing, and uplifting journey of the author's conscience, a feeling for an entire huge era. This era began in the early days of the First World War and ended only with the early days of the Second World War. Therefore, the theme of the trilogy, as the author explicitly pointed out in the Autobiography, is the road home, to the motherland.
