How to Teach a Nine-Month-Old Baby to Crawl

Patient's question:

I am 36 years old this year, and recently I have been feeling unwell. During the day, I sometimes feel dizzy, and it has also affected my work. I can't sleep at night, and the medicine I took doesn't seem to help much. How can I teach my nine-month-old baby to crawl?

Doctor's answer:

It's common for a 9-month-old baby not to be crawling yet, as long as other developmental milestones are normal, there's no need to worry too much. Parents should patiently guide the baby. Practice when the baby is in a good mood. Let the baby lie on a firm mat, gently support the baby's abdomen with one hand, and push the baby's feet with the other. Place a toy in front of the baby to encourage him to crawl forward. When the baby reaches the toy, praise him and move the toy a short distance forward to encourage him to continue reaching for it. Over time, he will get used to it.
