What disinfectant is safest to use on a newborn's umbilical cord?

Patient's question:

The child just born doesn't know what's wrong, there are always red spots on their body, and they are spitting up milk. Please ask what disinfectant is safest to use for a newborn's umbilical cord.

Doctor's answer:

Generally, within 24 hours after a child is born, the wrapped gauze should be removed, and no further bandaging should be applied to promote the drying and falling off of the umbilical cord stump. When handling the umbilical cord, wash your hands thoroughly and then pinch up the cord gently. Use a 75% disinfectant alcohol swab to disinfect around the base of the cord, removing all secretions and bloodstains. Do this 1 to 2 times daily to keep the umbilical area clean.
