Features: Actively participating in international standardization activities, engaging in the development of international standards, and transforming suitable international standards into Chinese standards that align with national conditions. This is a consistent policy of China's standardization work and an important part of it, aimed at protecting the country's technological and economic interests and promoting foreign trade. The International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) are currently the largest and most authoritative international standardization organizations in the world. China joined ISO in 1978 and IEC in 1957 and now participates in the work of ISO and IEC under the name of the National Standardization Administration of China (SAC). ISO currently has 187 technical committees (TCs) and 552 subcommittees (SCs). China is now an active (P) member of 145 TCs and 356 SCs under ISO and an observer (O) member of 49 TCs and 238 SCs. China also currently hosts the secretariat for one ISO TC and five ISO SCs. The IEC has 89 TCs and 88 SCs, and China participates in all activities as an active (P) member. The business of these TCs and SCs involves 139 domestic units in China. Over a thousand domestic experts participate in the international standardization work of ISO and IEC. Since China joined the WTO, participating in international standardization activities and adopting international standards have become urgent tasks in China's standardization work. To help experts engaged in standardization work in China understand and master the policies, regulations, guidelines, and guidelines related to international standardization activities, as well as the procedures for participating in international standardization activities and foreign affairs regulations, the National Standardization Administration of China organized relevant experts to collect frequently encountered and documents in participation in international standardization activities, as well as commonly used materials for participating in international activities. Referencing "Reading Material for Leaders in Foreign Affairs," "Knowledge Manual for Foreign-related Personnel," and other relevant materials and documents, the "Handbook for International Standardization Work" was compiled and published, providing domestic standardization personnel with the necessary resources to participate in international standardization activities.
