How to Teach a Nine-Month-Old Baby to Crawl

Patient's question:

I am 36 years old this year, and recently I have been feeling unwell. During the day, I sometimes feel dizzy, and it has affected my work. I can't sleep at night, and the medicine I took doesn't seem to help much. How can I teach my nine-month-old baby to crawl?

Doctor's answer:

It's common for a 9-month-old baby not to crawl yet, as long as other developmental milestones are normal, there's no need to worry too much. Parents should patiently guide the baby. Choose a time when the baby is in a good mood for practice. Let the baby lie on a firm mat, gently support the baby's belly with one hand, and push the baby's feet with the other. Place a toy in front of the baby to encourage him to crawl forward. When the baby reaches the toy, praise him and move the toy a short distance forward to encourage him to continue reaching for it. Over time, he will get used to it.
