If you open this book—or rather, this small booklet—you will immediately feel its practicality, knowledge, and relatability, which aligns with the writing principles I followed when composing it. When the publisher entrusted me with the task of writing this book, I gave it much thought: how to create a user-friendly, conversational, and authentic practical handbook that readers could find helpful when needed and use effectively in communication. The most challenging aspect was the dialect issue in Arabic-speaking countries. Since there are over 20 countries in the world where Arabic is spoken, and each has its own dialect, even within the same country, there are linguistic differences—similar to the variations in Chinese usage across different provinces and ethnic groups in China. Ultimately, I decided to adopt the standard Arabic language, often referred to as the "Mandarin" of Arabic. With this book in hand, no matter where you travel in the Arab world, as long as you persevere and apply the principle of "remaining constant while adapting to change," you will always find "kindred spirits." And even better, you’re an outsider with "yellow skin and black hair"! During the writing process, I made every effort to select vocabulary and sentence structures commonly used in daily interactions, along with relevant word links, making it easier for you to find related phrases and terms in similar scenarios. Additionally, when categorizing dialogues, for the sake of convenience in searching, some similar or nearly identical sentence structures may appear in different parts of the book. Please bear with this.
