Patient's question:
The babies were born as twins on January 14th. Tonight during dinner, the second child was given 3/1 bowl of rice. Later, she kept fussing and it seemed like she wasn't eating well or maybe she was full! I gave her some Qizhen Dan. Is that okay?Doctor's answer:
A 10-month-old baby can already eat a variety of solid foods and usually has three meals a day. However, rice should not be provided yet, as the child's digestive system is not fully developed. It is best to wait until the baby is one year old before introducing it. Breast milk or iron-fortified formula is recommended. Additionally, iron-fortified rice cereal or other grain cereals, yellow and green vegetables, fruits, and small amounts of protein-rich foods like poultry, tofu, and meat can be given. Foods that are more likely to cause allergic reactions, such as peanut butter, milk, shellfish, citrus fruits, and the protein portion of eggs, should be introduced at age one or even later.
